Lieutenant Thomas Bell Lindsay Churchill.
Tom Churchill joined the Manchester Regiment in 1927. This photograph was taken during the battalion's fight against the Burma Rebellion in 1931.
Tom later served with the Manchesters in Sudan and the UK. He joined the Commandos during the Second World War and fought in Italy and Yugoslavia. After the war he served in the Far East and retired as a Major General in 1962. He was Colonel of the Manchester Regiment between 1952 and 1958. He died in 1990, aged 82.
His brother Jack also joined the Manchester Regiment, and also served as a Commando.
